Nobody’s Life But Mine.

One cannot truly describe experience.  Poets, philosophers, artists, writers and countless others have been trying to describe the ultimate mystery of experience since the beginning of time. Existential philosophy tries to grasp the ungraspable… of this, which we can in the end, only point to.  Meaning, purpose and wisdom can be found in the divine, symbolic meta-stories of our great spiritual traditions and religions. And all around, within and without, lies the awesome truth we all share, hidden in plain sight, beyond meaning or measure. Freewheeling in Europe

The basic route was around 4,000 miles in total. Photo: the van in Rodalqillar, Cabo de Gata, Southern Spain Part One. Read the introduction here. Later, while engaged with Islamic mysticism I learned to read Arabic. Short courses in Art & Design, Manuscript Calligraphy, Gilding and Signwork supported a small business teaching and producing plaques and shop signage. I held workshops in…

Pros and Cons of Patreon

So here’s my thoughts on trying to work out whether to set up a Patreon, specifically for my planned ten-week trip in my van around Europe. Do you know what Patreon is? It’s a crowdfunding platform for artists and creators to receive small amounts of financial support from lots of individual people in order to live and continue delivering their creativity to those people. Historically, artists and creative people don’t earn much but are often funded in other ways, which is why organisations like the Arts Council were set up. Patreon is the same idea but cuts out the…

On the Road

Coming up, reporting live on a trip around Europe in my converted Sprinter van as a… Freewheel Coach… Read Part One here. Back in 1991, half way to Mecca from Germany on an old bus, as I looked down at the book in my hands, ‘Journey to the Lord of Power’ by Ibn Arabi, I suddenly realised the inward journey to my true self was what the trip was all about. I have since come to realise that every journey has in inner equivalent, which can be made conscious and used for good. An early coach, Kosc Museum, Hungary.Photo:…
